When I first moved to Waxahachie, Texas this past April, I wasn’t sure how long it would take for this place to feel like home. I had spent years in North Carolina, where rolling hills, winding back roads, and lush forests shaped much of my photography. But stepping into Waxahachie’s wide-open spaces, I quickly discovered that the landscapes here tell a different story—one of space, light, and stillness.
This photo captures exactly what drew me in. A lone bull grazes in the field, framed by branches that create a quiet, almost intimate perspective. The horizon stretches endlessly, yet the moment feels personal—like a secret you stumble upon when you slow down and really look. That’s what I’ve learned about Texas skies and prairies: they demand you take your time, notice the subtleties, and let the light guide you.
Waxahachie has a charm that’s both rustic and timeless. From the golden glow of late summer evenings to the dramatic contrasts of storm clouds rolling across the plains, every day offers something new to capture.
